Default Font Changing - v.97-2003 to v2007

I've been modifying and updating a presentation originally created in v. 97-2003 using 2007 v.12. When I started to edit I was prompted convert all to 2007 or edit existing. I selected edit existing and made edits - duplicated slides to update graphs, changed color on graphs, created new slides. When I duplicate a slide however the color of the graph and the font changes. Because of this when I completed the presentation, I went through and verified all font selections - that the type and size were the same for each slide, especially data labels in the graphs, since the duplicated slides copied into a different font. After making the necessary changes I saved the presentation in 2007 v.12. However, now upon opening the presentation the fonts have all changed again. What happened? What do I do to keep the formatting consistent between the old 97-2003 version slides and the new or duplicated slides?
