Can't open .pps files in an email
I have been using Office 2000 for quite some time, and have recently added Office 2010. Although I don't use PowerPoint, I have been able to open .pps files until now.
When looking under Default Associations (Control Panel), Office 2010 is associated with .ppsx files. However, there is no longer a .pps file shown. Hence, when I attempt to open a .pps file, I receive the "no file association" error message. How does one add .pps as a file extension to the list of known file exensions? I don't know about Windows Vista but in Windows XP you can create a custom file association. Locate the folder options dialog box (on my PC it's in any Windows Explorer window under Tools). Select File Types. You should see a <New> button.
