Powerpoint automatically changing picture size when adding a picture (2010)
I'm using Powerpoint to do some picture modifications (e.g. make fuzzy edges, etc), and when I insert a picture of say 700x467 dimensions, it shows up as a smaller size in the PowerPoint slide, in fact half the actual size. If I then save the picture out (via right-click->Save Picture), indeed the picture is cut down to half the dimensions.
How do I get PowerPoint to leave the size of the picture alone when I insert it into a slide? (note my view magnification is at 100%, so it can't be related to that). This is in PowerPoint 2010, but I imagine 2007 is similar. Thanks Last edited by One_Life; 01-18-2012 at 11:49 PM. |

PowerPoint has an annoying habit of "thinking" for you!
If the slide you use has a placeholder which can hold pictures ... "obviously" you want the picture in that placeholder. Doesn't fit? "Obviously" resize it! Try starting with a blank slide with no placeholders see if that works. |

Hmm. slide was blank to start with. Perhaps Powerpoint is "thinking" even beyond ...!

Just to be sure:
By Blank I mean using the Blank Layout not a slide with no content. If that's what you mean then thats not what I'm seeing if I start with a 700 x 467 pic, insert it and save as picture. I get a 700 x 467 pic. Actually now I test it although the picture looks smaller when there's a placeholder the exported picture is pretty much the correct size. |

... Even in a new blank presentation it is doing it. Do you know how to show the picture's size in powerpoint in pixels and not in inchs? I'm only seeing inches and it is a pain to try to correlate with the external folder indication of pixels

You can't show a size in Pixels (it would depend on the resolution.)
Sorry but I can't repro the problem at all so it's hard to help. Are the pictures jpegs? |

Yes, mostly jpgs, a few pngs (depending on what I'm doing).
I think I'm going to have to try to attach an example (that hopefully reproduces the problem). Will do that soon. Thanks for your help. |
