Default Powerpoint automatically changing picture size when adding a picture (2010)

I'm using Powerpoint to do some picture modifications (e.g. make fuzzy edges, etc), and when I insert a picture of say 700x467 dimensions, it shows up as a smaller size in the PowerPoint slide, in fact half the actual size. If I then save the picture out (via right-click->Save Picture), indeed the picture is cut down to half the dimensions.

How do I get PowerPoint to leave the size of the picture alone when I insert it into a slide? (note my view magnification is at 100%, so it can't be related to that).

This is in PowerPoint 2010, but I imagine 2007 is similar.

Thanks
