Default AVI's in Powerpoint

Hi.

I have created a slide show containing a mixture of slides, with and without AVI clips. The slides with AVI clips are animated so that the AVI runs as soon as the previous slide is advanced. At the end of the AVI the presentation remains on that slide displaying the finishing position of the AVI. The next slide starts on a mouse click, allowing the presenter to control the timing.

Sometimes the next slide comes in "cleanly". However, more often than not, when the AVI slide is clicked to advance the AVI briefly (a split second) returns to it's starting position before the slide advances to the next one.

This is becoming a little irritating and definitely detracts from the professional finish of the presentation.

Is this a known "issue"? Has anyone any ideas how to solve this?

Thanks in advance.

Terry

Yep that can be annoying. The video shows the poster frame for an instant. This is usually OK if the frame is black as many videos are. You can reset the poster to the last frame which will solve this problem but may create a new one as you may see the last frame for a second when the video starts!

Here's one way.

Wind the video to the last frame
VideoTool's > Format > Poster Frame
Set it to current frame
Now Copy and paste as an image.

Reset the poster frame to 1 and place the image over the video with an After previous Appear animation.

Hi John.

Many thanks for that.

Still a tad confused. When I select Video tools/Format/Poster frame, "Current frame is greyed out". What exactly is the Poster frame? Is this something I need to enable first?

Thanks,

Terry

You need to go to the "timeline" bar under the video and drag it along to the last frame. You should have enabled the poster frame then/

Bit of a long way around the problem but glad it worked for you.
