Default Sending notifications via shared calendar

OK so I've had a user come to me at work wanting to do something in Outlook that I have not heard of before and I don't even know if it would be possible.

What she would like to do is have Outlook 2003 email a distribution list when she updates appointments and events in a shared calendar. None of these entries will require attendies.

For example:

Would it be possible to enter an event for the 5th Jan 2012 into a shared calendar (of which she is the owner) reminding them to take down their christmas tree, and then have Outlook 2003 email the DL??

Any ideas/suggestions/VBA code most welcome

Thanks
