Default Light gray lettering on a darker shade of gray =?

When I put a folder into the Favorites folder, the corresponding e-mail address shows up light gray lettering on a slightly darker shade of gray. What kind of stooopid design work is this and how can I change it so that a normal human being can read it? I am working with 7 e-mail addresses and it is extremely annoying.
