Now that I've set up IMAP, whenever I delete an email it simply gets a line through it. How can I make it so that it will be put in the "Trash" folder?

For IMAP, when you delete the emails in Outlook, the emails weren't really deleted on the server. How about dragging them to Trash folder?

Well I just tried dragging it to the trash folder, and Outlook merely put a line through it again!

That sounds great, I just have one hesitation: Will "purging" the messages move them to Trash, or delete them permanently?

The emails would be deleted permanently after purge.
