Default Default language

Hello,
I was wondering if someone can help me. I've recently been upgraded to Office 2007 and am now using Outlook 2007 for my email. I've got a problem with the default language used for the spell check. It keeps setting itslelf to English US, however as I'm from England I want it to be English UK. I've tried everything I can think of to change it to English UK but whenever I restart Outlook English US is back as the language used for the spell check. I've tried contacting our PC support people but they haven't been able to help. None of their suggestions work, and whenever I press them to get it fixed they tell me that all their suggestions work on their machines but not mine, however I haven't been able to persuade them to fix find out what is different about my machine.

Any suggestions? I think it might be something to do with the Group Policies but I can't change these myself.
I only get this problem when I compose an email myself, when I reply to someone else I don't have it.
I've attached a screen dump of how I change the default language. You can see that both English US and English UK are set as the editing language. When I try to set English UK as the editing language I get told this will affect all documents using the NORMAL template. However when I restart Outlook I'm back to using English US.
Thanks
George

Default Change Default Language

George,

Have you tried changing the language settings for Office? Your screenshot looks like you are using Windows XP:

1. on the Windows Start menu
2. Click Programs
3. Click Microsoft Office
4. Click Microsoft Office Tools
5. Click Microsoft Office 2003 Language Settings.
6. Click the Enabled Languages tab.
7. Under Choose the language that defines default behavior in Microsoft Office applications select English UK
8. Click OK
9. You'll get a message about the changes. Click Continue and lose customizations.

I hope this helps.

Hi Masta7Mail,
I've tried your suggestion but I still get the same problem. I'm running Windows XP with office 2007. I never had this problem before we upgraded from 2003.
Cheers
George

Lightbulb Change Windows Default

George,

Hmmm....I wonder if changing the default input language in the Windows operating system would work.

To do this go to:

1. Start > Control Panel
2. Click Date, Time, Language, and Regional Options
3. Click Regional and Language Options
4. Click the Languages tab
5. Under Text services and input languages click Details
6. Under Default input language click the language you want

Now if under the Default input language your language is not installed:

7. Under installed services, click Add
8. Click language you want on the Input Language list
9. Under Default input language click the language you want
10.Click OK

Go back to Microsoft Office Tools (as described in my last post) and make sure the Language Settings is still on English UK.
Click the Editing Languages tab and be sure Primary editing language is the way you want it

Let me know if this works for you!

Hi,
I tried what you suggested and it worked until I rebooted my computer! I'm not sure what else to try.
Cheers
George
