Default Formula to subtract one month from due date field in reminder field

I have a custom form for a particular group of tasks. I am try to set the reminder field to be calculated automatically, using a formula which subtracts one month from the due date field:

=EDATE("[Due Date]",-1)

I can't find much on outlook formulas online, so I tried this excel formula. It doesn't work and gives the same value for different due date values.

Would appreciate suggestions!

Thanks,
Jay
