Default Autoreply, for geeks only?

I can only guess that I a not a geek enough for this but how do I set up an auto-reply at all? I really hope there is a simply way to do this but...

I can find the NormalEmail.dotm in templates and change it but when I go to save it, the system wants to put it into the Documents folder. Now I can rename the original .dom file for safe keeping and then go into documents folder to copy/paste and rename it it back into the templates folder but this is crazy.

Am I missing the location to simply create an "automated reply?
How will I be able to create others to reply to other key words in e-mail messages? It looks like once I create one then it will be the standard for all automated replies.

It used to be so simple,....
Cannot an average person use Outlook anymore?
