Creating new .pst did not reduce Outlook.pst, should it have?
Hello! I have created a number of new Personal Storage Folders and moved emails from my Inbox and Sent Items to those folders. Doing so obviously increased the size of the new .pst files for these folders. But, the Outlook.pst file is still the same size.
I know I can compact, and am doing that as well, but I really was thinking that creating new .pst files and moving stuff into them would reduce the Outlook.pst. Should it have? If so, why is it not working? |

Update: I see that the file size of the original Personal Folder (which made up the original Outlook.pst) IS getting smaller as I move emails over to the new Personal Folders I have created, when I check the folder sizes within Outlook.
But, in Explorer, things are different. While the new .pst files get bigger, the original Outlook.pst file stays the same size. |
