Default Archives Don't Have "Sent Items"

I've been archiving my emails on a regular basis. Now that I go back to retrieve certain emails, the "sent items" don't seem to be available.

I am attempting to retrieve the emails by in Microsoft Office by going to File/Open/Outlook data file. This seems to put another "Archive Folder" in my mail box but does not include the "sent items."

What am I doing wrong?

It could be that you did not select "sent items folders" to archive.

Perform a test archive and see what happens. Verify you have checkmarked the "sent folders' to archive.

If I did not select the "Sent Items" to archive, are they lost?

If you did not select "sent items" to archive, then they are still in the original Sent folder unless you already deleted them in the original folder...then yes, they are lost.
