Cannot open shared Calendar in new Window, OL2010
After an upgrade from 2007 my shared calendars no longer have a context menu entry for "open in new window". However, I can still do this with "my calendars"...is this by design or do I have a plug in or something that is disabling this?

On a related note, when I use Outlook search, the shared calendars are not available as "locations to search". Could this be because of the way the shared resources are opened? (i.e., opening a shared resources vs. opening an entire mailbox and having any shared resources within the mailbox appear)?

Rexracer,
Per your first question; you can open the shared calendar in a new window. Select the shared calender then View > open in a New Window. This is going to open the calendar in a new window will full ribbon options. When you select the Calendar tab, typing an entree in the search calendar, will only locate items for your user. A shared calendar does not index its items to your profile. Hope this helps. |

thanks for the quick response!
Your suggestion for the first question doesn't work. When I select the Shared Calendar, the "open in new window" goes away. It's there when I open a calendar under the "My calendars" group On the 2nd issue...is there a way to add these shared resources to my index in Outlook to make them "searchable"? Thanks! |

How to open a share calendar in outlook 2010 in a new window
Okay, so I was searching for this recently, and no one had posted a solution yet, but I found one under a related post which wasn't a direct answer to this. In Outlook, at the bottom left of the screen your outlook items are listed (Mail, Calendar, Contacts, etc.). If you right click calendar at that point, it gives you the option to open in a new window and from there you are able to choose which calendar you want to view, including the shared calendars you have added, and you can do this for as many calendars as necessary.
