Can't send messages via Hughesnet
We got a new computer for my wife yesterday -- Windows 7 and Outlook 2010. We use Hughesnet satellite as our provider. After we set up Outlook we can receive email, but not send email. We get an error message that says "Your server does not support the connection encryption type you have specified. . . . " The Outlook advanced options set up screen hs a drop down box with four encryption types: None, SSL, TLS and Auto. I've tried all four settings and we get the same error message with each of them. When I contacted Hughesnet they basically said (as I thought they would) "That is a Microsoft problem.
Can anyone give me any help on this? Thanks. John |

the smtp port could be block by hughesnet.
By default the smtp port is 25 (no encryption) ..usually blocked by ISP for security. Try the alternate port 587. (no encryption) If you want to try a SSL port , then port 465. or Ask Hughesnet if they have a smtp server that you can use from their network. |
