Outlook help needed
Hi!
I have 2 POP3 email accounts (1 home & 1 work) and 1 MSExchange email account (work) on my own laptop. I want to be able to pick up emails, contacts and calendars for all 3 accounts on my iPhone4 without synchronising the home data onto the work exchange server. (I'm using Windows7 and Office2010.) Is this possible & if so how? I'm not particularly techie. Any help you can offer is VERY welcome. I've ended up trying to take the exchange email account off the iPhone but I still can't get the POP3 account contact and calendar info onto the phone. Hope you can help! |

Unfortunately POP does not have the ability to sync calendar and contact data. POP is inbound email only, and there's no actual synchronization process that takes place.
The only way to sync your contacts to your iPhone is either a direct cable sync (like through iTunes), or by syncing them with your Exchange account (which does support 2-way syncing plus contact and calendar). -SW |

Hi Kaneto,
Thanks for replying. I do get the bit about needing to synch the POP email accounts contacts/calendars via iTunes. The problem was that the exchange email account sort of "took over" the phone and only that account's contacts and calendars would synch to the phone. I've taken the exchange email account off the phone and reorganised the order in which the contacts folders and calendars appear in my outlook on my laptop. That's given me my POP accounts info back on the phone - phew! I'm just about to try getting the exchange email account back on the phone without synching it's contacts or calendar to the phone. Wish me luck! Regards, Tricia. |

Tricia,
When you set up your Exchange account on the iPhone, you can select not to sync the Calendar and Contact. This will prevent the iPhone from over-writing the calendar and contact info you already have on there. The iPhone does support multiple calendar and contact lists, but it seems to be very quirky. For some reason it likes to associate anything in Outlook to an Exchange account. Good luck with your setup. |

Thanks Kaneto!
So far so good. I haven't got round to getting the exchange email account back on the iphone but when I do I will be careful to choose not to synch the contacts and calendar! Best regards, Tricia. |
