Unfortunately POP does not have the ability to sync calendar and contact data. POP is inbound email only, and there's no actual synchronization process that takes place.
The only way to sync your contacts to your iPhone is either a direct cable sync (like through iTunes), or by syncing them with your Exchange account (which does support 2-way syncing plus contact and calendar). -SW
