Angry Outlook 'unable to log in to my account' error message

Hello all. I've joined the forum here hoping that you guys are more use than the chocolate fireguard that is official MS help (an oxymoron if ever there was one...).

When opening my Outlook 2007 and trying to open either of my hotmail based accounts, I get the following error message:

"Microsoft Outlook Hotmail Connector
We are unable to sign in to your account. Please try again. Could not authenticate against the windows ID Live service. Please try again later."

I am running the most up to date version of Connector and my Outlook is up to date. Both my accounts work fine if accessed via the web and I've removed and re-added both from Outlook so many times now I could spit.

Any ideas why this isn't working, please?

unionfan,

I'm not a fan of the hotmail connector. When i configured my Outlook 2010 to my live or hotmail accounts, i set them up as pop access. Using the proper server and port settings everything works fine.

To aid you in this issue, can you adjust the account information? If so confirm the server information is correct. reason why i say confirm is my incoming mail server is pop3.live.com on port 993. outgoing is smtp-server.wi.rr.com port 25.

The Outgoing server might not be the same for you.

Hope this helps

Default Thanks SpiderTech

I'll keep your ideas in mind and will wait to see if anyone has a clue on actually fixing Hotmail Connector. The problem with taking the approach you suggest is that my POP and SMTP addresses seem to change via MS which was why I opted for using Connector in the first place!

I know, it's just a rubbish service but hey, what does MS care...

Thanks again.
