  • Select Tools | Rules and Alerts... from the menu.
  • Click New Rule....
  • Make sure Check messages when they arrive is selected under Step 1: Select a template.
  • Click Next >.
  • Check from people or distribution list and marked as importance under Step 1: Select condition(s).
  • Click people or distribution list under Step 2: Edit the rule description.
  • Double-click the person in your contacts or type the desired email address under From ->.
    • You can check for multiple addresses. Separate them with semicolons.
  • Click OK.
  • Click importance, also under Step 2: Edit the rule description.
  • Select Normal from the Specify the importance to look for: drop-down menu.
  • Click OK.
  • Click Next >.
  • Check mark it as importance under Step 1: Select action(s).
  • Click importance under Step 2: Edit the rule description.
  • Select High from the Specify the importance to set: drop-down menu.
  • Click OK.
  • Click Next >.
  • Click Next > again.
  • Type a helpful name ("Reset importance", for example) under Step 1: Specify a name for this rule.
  • Click Finish.
  • Now click OK.
