outlook cannot update message read/unread status through imap

Hello all,
We have migrated from Exchange 2003 to 2010 and we've been using IMAP in some locations.
Now, these IMAP users are experiencing this problem, where they see their newly read messages as unread every time they re-logon to the accounts through Outlook.
For example, someone has 5 new mails, reads all of them or marks them as read and closes Outlook. He relaunches the outlook and he again has same 5 unread emails.
Same thing happens if he looks into the Sent Mail folder and returns back to inbox.
What is that problem all about?
