Hi, I searched the forum but can't find my answer.
After reformatting my PC, I reinstalled Office. Now the "this is spam" command has disappeared from my toolbar and I cannot find how to get it back. MS Office help is no help (which is the case about 50% of the time no matter how I reword searches). This is not a great big deal, but I liked the option. I used to have Norton and switched to a different security program. Any chance this option came from Norton and not Office? Though how it ended up on my Outlook toolbar would be a mystery . . . |

The "This is spam" button was definitely a part of your old Norton AV. Outlook 2007 has a built-in junk email function, but it is accessed by right-clicking on the message and identifying it as Junk E-mail. There's no one-touch button for it.
The button was in your Outlook toolbar because Norton AV comes with an Add-in for Outlook. This Add-in allows Norton to scan your email for viruses, in addition to filtering for spam. -SW |

Aha, thank you!
As I said, no big deal, adding sender to blocked list works fine. Putting away my magnifying glass. Cheers, Sherlock |

I'm running Outlook 2007 and Norton Internet Security 2011 on a Windows 7/32 platform. This problem of the lost Norton toolbar hit me out of the blue for no apparent reason some time after an upgrade to Norton 2011.
Thirty-six hours of frustrating research turned up a solution -- sadly, no thanks to either Microsoft or Norton who appear to remain mute on the subject. Look in the Help menu of Outlook to find the 'Disabled' items option. Re-enable any Norton processes. Restart Outlook and the Norton toolbar is back. Someone says this fault is 'no big deal'. They're wrong. Without the toolbar you can't participate in Norton's Spam reporting programme and so can't contribute to the essential global fight against the Spam plague. I hope this may help a few fellow-sufferers. MH |
