Hi,

I'm using Outlook Express and I'm experiencing some problems setting up signatures.

I have a number of email accounts and so only want the siugnature to appear on a single email account's mail. I have made sure that the box "Add signatures to all outgoing messages" is not ticked. Then under advanced I have selected the email account I wish to use the signature for.

When I create and send an email the signature is missing. The only way I can get the signatures to work is to tick the box for all outgoing messages or to manually add the signature via insert>signature.

I can't see any other way of achieving this and yet I cannot believe that what I am trying to do (automatically add signatures to select accounts) is not possible.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Rob.

You are correct, if you do not have the "Add signatures to all outgoing messages", then you will have to manually add the desired signature to your message.

Unfortunately Outlook Express isn't a very robust program, so features like separate signatures for each account really aren't designed into it. The lack of features is probably one of the big reasons that it's no longer offered for newer versions of Windows. My suggestion would be to look into a more robust email program like Outlook or Thunderbird.

Thanks for the reply.

I would swithc to another client but I have over 6 years worth of email archived and stored. I guess that there are tool available to import and convert between clients but I am just so used and comfortable using OE that I am reluctnt to change.

If your email is loaded in OE, programs like Thunderbird should be able to automatically import them. The nice thing about Thunderbird is it's free so you can download, install, import your mail, and try it out. If you don't like it, you still have OE installed so it's as simple as uninstalling and resetting OE as the default email program.
