Hi, all-

In Outlook 2007, I use the Categories and Flag columns to mark important messages.

Usually I click one or the other or both, but sometimes the entire line for the email will turn RED.

This is OK as it makes the message even more visible, but I can't figure out how to do this!!!

I can turn these red entries off by clearing the flag entry, but I can't figure how to make the entire entry turn red at will.

It's something that just happens, so I'm guessing it is some sort of combination for selecting a category and flag.

Is this a bug? If so, I'd like to have it happen more often!

Best,

Hog

Hogballs,

You are correct. This is a combination of setting a category, with a specific color say red, and marking it with a flag.

When you set, say a user, with the category color of red, a small box will display the color but the entry will not have the full red bar. Once you add the flag, to mark the message, it will then display as a full bar. This helps locating the item for latter use.

Hope this helps.

I think we might be talking about two different things. The screenshot below will show you what I am seeing.

And I LIKE it! I would like to be able to cause this to happen at will, rather than randomly, but I can't seem to figure out the steps to follow.

Best,

Hog

To cause this to happen again, assign another message to the red category and flag it. You should be able to replicate this easily.

Have a good weekend.

Default Still can't get this to work....

....as you can see in the screenshot. I have the red category selected and the message is flagged, but the rest of the line is not red.

When I assign a red category, I'm clicking in the categories field for the message, which defaults to red, then I click the flag icon to the right.

Are these the correct steps?

Best,

Hog
