Default Outlook 2007 Sorting roblem

Hey guys,

I could sort my Outlook 2003 messages according to "From" criteria and after that just pressing the starting letter of name of the sender, outlook was automatically going to the senders mails. For example, if I press "T" after sorting, I was able to go to mails sent by Thomas, then Tom and so on no matter on which mail I was. The same manner applies for the "Subject" field.

Now, I have installed Outlook 2007 but now it doesnt have that feature (or there is another way than the conventional one). I can do the same conventional navigation in the subject field, however.

Is there a way for "From" field in Outlook 2007

In Outlook 2007, at the top of you Inbox mail list, you should see a bar labelled "Arranged By:" If you click on this bar, you should be able to select From.

If this doesn't work, you can always go to the View menu and select Arrange by > From.

That should be all you need.

I've noticed this too, and it's a real backward step. Kaneto, I believe you've mis-interpreted the issue.

Sorting the messages by sender or any other field isn't a problem. What's missing is the "go to" feature, whereby you could press eg the "b" key to go straight to the first message from senders whose names began with "b", if you first sorted messages on senders' names. Or if you started typing the name, eg "br" it would go straight to the first message from eg "brian" - exactly as you can in Windows Explorer.

This was a great feature for productivity. When you have thousands of emails, it can be a lot quicker to find an email this way than by scrolling though them. It's often quicker than using the search facility, which can bring up too many results to be useful.

Is this a bug, or a feature that's been ditched? I can't understand why it would be removed, as it keeps it aligned with other programs such as explorer and previous Outlook versions. Also, as tgulez says, it still works when you sort on subject.

Edit - I've just noticed that the "go to" search works in other folders, just not in inbox, which leads me to believe it's a bug. Anyone know diffierent?
