Default Blocked Senders

Blocked Sender list is not being retained. Several names
have been entered repetitively, messages still appear in
the In Box. No names appear in the list after they have
been entered.

Ozarkopa,

Most E-mail may look like it is received by the same person but in fact could be sent from a different IP address that is phishing the real E-mail address.

Since you stated that the blocked sender address wont retain in the block senders list, this is a sign that your outlook client could be corrupt.

I recommend running the below command line switch:

  1. Click Start.
  2. Click All Programs.
  3. Click Accessories.
  4. Click Run.
  5. Enter the following in the Run dialog box (with quotations):
    "c:\program files\microsoft office\office14\Outlook.exe" /cleanprofile
This will fix any registry errors found in the client.

Hope this helps

Back to square one. Blocked senders still not being saved
in list. At one point, four names were on list. Subsequently
the names no longer appeared on the list.
Anyone have ideas?

Ozarkopa,

thanks for updating me that the command switch fixed your issue temporarily..Now that it has reverted back to not displaying your blocked senders, its time to see what other assets you have.

1. Is your mail account on an exchange platform?
2. Does your mail provider use a spam filtering system, such as Google Postini?
3. Does your Account have a web based version of your mailbox? If yes what is the name and version of this web app.

Keep me posted and i will do what ever i can to aid you.

Best Regards,

I am new to Outlook, Spider Tech.
I always used Outlook Express; got a new computer
with Windows 7, no more Outlook Express.

I have no idea about what you are asking in your response.
I have a Pop3 account with Suddenlink.net. I don't believe they have any kind of spam filter, but not sure. I suppose I could call and ask.

Exchange Platform? I don't know.

I can access my mail by going direct to the web site
Suddenlink.net and logging in.

I have noticed that names on the Safe Sender list are
being retained. I have just started making the list up,
and so far the additions are not disappearing.

I appreciate your help, and I'm sorry I can't give better
answers to your questions.

The answers you have provided was enough for me to search for a secondary solution in which you have already discovered.

Since you can log into your MB at Suddenlink.net, can you add those senders to the unsafe list using this portal? If you can i would add those senders here and see if they retain.

Hope this helps

OK, can't block senders, but there is another way.
Create a message rule that sends all mail from a
specific sender directly to the deleted folder. This
seems to be working.

Can block sender on web mail.
All's well that ends well.
Thanks Spider Tech.

Default does anyone have an idea.........

I have had intermittent good/bad results with the Blocked Sender list in Outlook 2007.

Names can be entered manually or by clicking the Block
Sender icon with the message open.

Checking the list afterward will show the name of the sender to be there.
This is will be the status for a few days, and then when checking the list, all names will be gone.
I downloaded an update for Outlook a few days ago,
thought all was OK because names were being retained on the list. Checked today-all names gone.

I can block senders at the web server, but this is a real
hassle if you have several senders to block,ie, advertising.

Outlook seems to work OK otherwise. Is it possible there
is some kind of conflict going on with Windows 7? I know
Outlook 2007 (I think) was released before W7 came out.
All help/advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi Ozarkopa.

I have a couple of questions for you.

The first one is, do you have more than 1 e-mail account?

Secondly, did you upgrade from Office 2007 to 2010?

The reason that I ask is that with Outlook 2010, each e-mail account has it's own blocked sender list and does not work if that account isn't the default e-mail account.

The below forum has been addressing this (so far with no success).

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/...e-26c79d82a267

This changed in 2010 and many of us with multiple accounts are not happy about it.

I am cruising out here hoping to find someone who has found an answer to this.

Hi SpiderTech.

I tried the cleanprofile switch that you mentioned earlier and I keep getting an invalid command line argument.

Is there a newer way of doing this?

Thanks
