Default Start all over/new profile

Running Win7 and Office 2010. I set up my account with three email addresses. I didn't understand they would each have a separate Inbox. After a week, found that very frustrating to manage. So I thought I could just delete and start over.

I deleted all .pst files on my computer.
I deleted the data in the Outlook program file.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Office several times.
Every time I open Outlook, it looks for the file path of one of my email address/profiles and I can't get past there. No such file exists any more. I can't get to a place where I can start all over.

That's my first question. The second one is how do I create one In Box with three email addresses feeding into it?

Chereena,

You Windows 7 operating system most likly still has your profiles listed. To check so you can remove them:

select Start > Control Panel > Where it says view by, select small icons and locate and click the mail icon. This will bring up your email profiles window. remove any profiles listed there. this should resolve your error.

Your second question has 2 possible solutions. Both solutions are performed after each mail account has been created.

1. Each inbox can be added to favorites. simply right click the inbox and select add to favorite

2. This option is more advanced. You can create a new folder and by using rules forward all messages to this folder.

Hope this helps.

You are SO my hero. Thank you for ending weeks of frustration.

Any chance I can ask you one more thing - even though it's not what this thread was originally about? Do you have any expertise in moving mail messages from Entourage (Mac v2007) to Outlook?

I do have some experience with moving messages from Entourage to Outlook.

1. What version of Outlook are you using?
2. The account Entourage is configured to, is this a POP, IMAP or an Exchange account?

Let me know

Default Convert mail from Mac to Outlook

Outlook 2010 on Win7. Entourage 2007 on OS 10.6.5.

I have three email accounts going into my Entourage. All three are POP accounts.

Thanks for trying!

Since these are POP accounts you might not have to migrate any of your data.

First, check to confirm a specific setting is enabled for all three of these accounts.

  • Open Entourage
  • Select Entourage > Account Settings
  • Select one of the accounts
  • Go to options and confirm "Leave a copy of each message on the server" is enabled.
Second, if the above is enabled just configure the POP accounts in Outlook. It will pull these messages from the POP server and all is well.

If the above is not checked, and all of your E-mails reside on the Mac you have to be aware that Entourage does not export information into an extension Outlook will recognize.

I do believe you can export our of Entourage then you can import to Outlook express then export to a .pst so Outlook can import it.

Keep me posted.

I don't leave mail on the server.

I found a software tool that converts .rge files to .eml files. It's called Outlook Import Wizard. It's importing them into Outlook 2010 but this entire process has introduced all kinds of other issues which I have posted about in separate threads.
