Exclamation Personal folders of clients disappeared after changing mail server

Hi,

We changed our mail server and set up a new mail server with same IP and mail configurations. After that, some of Office Outlook 2003,2007 and 2010 users started complaining that their personal folders(made by users themselves) are missing with emails in it.

I checked with our Linux postfix mail server for any clues.I did not find any emails which are missing, in our server.Of course,it should be saved in client's .pst file but I just double checked our server too.

Amazingly some users can see their personal folders in Office Outlook while others cannot see.So I went to one such 2010 client, scanned and repaired .pst file using scanpst.exe.It said, it found 'n' number of folders when repair but cannot see them after repair even.

That particular Office 2010 user can right click on any mail in "Inbox" --> Point to "Move to folder" and can see all missing personal folder names. But cannot move mail.Folders are not anywhere in directory hierarchy.Checked in "Deleted items" also. But no luck yet.Other users cannot see folder names when right click and point to "move to folder" even.

Please help me to find my lost personal folders with contents.Thank you

Regards,
Asiri

When you run SCANPST and it finds errors you need to keep running it until it comes back clean. See if this helps: http://www.officeforlawyers.com/outl...ol.htm#SCANPST

Exclamation Repeating scanpst.exe is unsuccessful

Hi I tried that repeating scanpst.exe method but it did not show my missing folders although tool said "0" errors.I believe there is a synchronizing issue.Hope those missing folders are somewhere in local PC but does not show in outlook due to synchronization issue. What should I do?Thank you.

Asiri

Default Similar problem

Hi asiri85,

I too have a similar problem. The same thing happened to a client of mine last week (but actually switching IP address to a different server) - yet of the 10 clients on that domain (all using Outlook 2010) only 1 reported missing folders.

Even more interesting, a client (same company) added Gmail IMAP to their account list, and all of their personal folders disppeared (these were POP3 folders).

Will SCANPST work here?

SCANPST might help. What kind of server was it that you changed from/to? Are your users storing their data in PST files? Are those PST files located on their local hard drives? Do you have them backed up?
