Opening reminders
Using Office 2007 with Windows 7 Professional I cannot open the reminders when it pops up on the taskbar. It was working, now it does not.
Any solutions? |

Try starting Outlook once with the /cleanreminders command switch.
Start>Run>outlook.exe /cleanreminders Be sure to include the space. This will reset the reminders and should allow them to properly display. |

Ok since that didn't work try this command switch
Exit Outlook, click Start, point to Run, type outlook /resetfolders, and click OK. If this does not work please update me and i will try to find another solution. Also this information is found in the following KB: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/286166 |

Opening Reminders
Thanks again, but this did not work either.
Should point out I have Windows 7 so there is no "run". I type what you say in the search box and execute the file that way. |

In Windows 7, the Run dialog is actually located in Start > All Programs > Accessories.
Unfortunately the problem here seems to be a bug in Windows 7 where the Reminder notification is actually opening behind the Outlook window. One suggestion is to set your taskbar to not combine taskbar buttons. This can be done by right-clicking on an empty area of the taskbar and selecting Properties. More info can be found here: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/...&prof=required No good permanent solutions yet, though. -SW |

Tried the" not combining taskbar buttons" but still cannot open reminders.
I have another problem that you may have ideas about. The Backup function does not work; when I click on backup the "save backup" is not highlighted, so basically my backup function does not work. |

Performing an export of your current mailbox can be used as a back up.
1. Open Outlook 2. Click File 3. Click Import/Export 4. Export to a file > Personal Folder File > highlight the top folder and check the include subfolders box > 5. Browse to the location that you would like to save the PST file (i.e. your desktop) 6. Click Finish This will not remove your items from your exchange mailbox as long as you do not select any option that says deleted items after export. Hope this helps. |

Backup...
...or you could just copy your PST file (while Outlook is closed) to your backup location.

I was just moaning about loss of the backup function, I knew about backing up PST. The Backup function seems to have cleared itself of the problem.
My real concern is the reminders issue. Thanks. |
