lost inbox messages

All my inbox messages disappeared. I am receiving new messages but existing 100 messages are gone.I checked the deleted folder; old ones are still there but not my missing inbox messages. Any suggestions??? Thanks, Andy

Is this a pop account? Are there any forwarding rules setup?

I don't know how to tell if it is pop account. Also, I don't know if there are forward rules set up. I didn't set any so what is on is what came with the computer. I may not be computer literate enough to do this. I stopped by a computer place today and told them about it and they said there is no way to bring back the inbox messages to Microsoft Outlook but they would be on my Gmail account. They are there so I think I may start using Gmail instead of Outlook.
