Default Outlook 2003 Task Reminders

All of a sudden, one of my recurring reminders keeps coming up and will not let me dismiss it. The message says that there is simthing wrong with the .pst file. When I run the scanpst.exe to repair it, is says that in cannot find the pst file. I've tried using the in box repair to no avail. Also, it says to exit Outlook then use the in box repair. How do you do that when you are not in Outlook to get to the help menu to activate the detect and repair?
