Thank you for your reply. I am just so used to while working in MS Word to go to the hyperlink dialog. I know about the method you suggested but never really thought about doing that. Henceforth I will try to keep it in mind for hyperlinks.
MS Excel is exceedingly easy to create hyperlinks because of the =hyperlink function which looks at the same criteria you suggested, i.e. having the name of the file and the path. I suppose Microsucks has their seemly good reason for not having dialog boxes expandable but to my way of thinking, unless they come to their defense their position is not defensible. In Excel I insert the file name in one cell, the path in another cell, then Concatenate those two cells and finally just apply the =hyperlink function to the Concatenated cell result. Example: Condusiv Sales.docx H:\Downloads\Diskeeper\Diskeeper 12\Diskeeper Professional Edition\ Folder File Diskeeper12_Professional.exe (Version: 16.0.1017.0) H:\Downloads\Diskeeper\Diskeeper 12\Diskeeper Professional Edition\Condusiv Sales.docx The Folder designated cell opens the folder, the File designated cell opens the document and the cell showing "H:\Downloads\Diskeeper\Diskeeper 12\Diskeeper Professional Edition\Condusiv Sales.docx" contains the Concatenated formula that picks up the file name and folder location. Simply picking the Folder or the File cells jumps to the intended target. |
