Default Settings on List of Emails

I have Outlook setup to have a preview pane at the bottom and all of my emails above the preview pane. The problem is the list of emails has too much information in some of the emails, thus, I cannot see as many emails at one time. Is there a way to control the emails that they are only one line vertically?
I hope that I explained this sufficiently that someone knows what I am talking about.

I have enclosed a JPG of what I am referring to. Notice there exists 3 emails about the preview. All of which have multiple lines opposed to the one line per email that I am trying to achieve.

The setting to display messages on a single line is buried very deeply in the user interface:

View > View Settings > Other Settings... > Always use single-line layout
