Open an outlook 2003 pst data-file from inside outlook 2010
I have saved my outlook 2003 pst folder on af USB harddisk before upgrading to outlook 2010. After having upgraded (win7 & office2010) - and opened Outlook 2010 - I whant to manually open my old outlook 2003 datafile from inside outlook 2010 (file - open) - but I got the following error message: "There was denied access to the file. You do not have the necessary permissions to access the file." (Translated from danish to english via Google). Do somebody know why I canīt open my old 2003 pst folder?

It looks that NTFS permissions were transferred with your file. Right click to this pst and change its' properties. Allow the read permission for that file.

It's likely that the permissions where only there for your old user account, and cannot be changed without that. I once had this problem, and I needed to boot my PC in safe mode, and log on as "administrator"
Then there was a progsess about changing ownership of the folder etc, what took me a while to figure out myself. I don't want you to do the same, so here is the link that explains what I've done.: http://byteblocks.com/post/2009/09/0...Windows-7.aspx Please keep us posted on what you did, and what worked (or not) Joost |
