Outlook hasn't worked correctly since 16.72
I just updated to Outlook 16.73.2 (23052700). Ever since the update to 16.73 was updated, Outlook has been the bane of my existence. I am syncing to an AOL account via IMAP. I am on Mac OS Ventura 13.3.1 Up until the update to 16.73, I never had any issues. Every time I delete a message. My entire mailbox empties and leaves me with an irritating icon with the message "All done for the day! Enjoy your empty inbox"). Likewise, if I go to the Trash to empty what I just deleted. I get another annoying icon saying someone already took the trash out, even though I never deleted the trash contents. If I try to snyc, I get the message that all files are sync'd. If I try to repair, it syncs the files eventually. But the same problem persists. When I'm trying to read e-mails, the whole inbox goes blank, deletes any replies I'm in the process of writing. And it takes forever (more than 5 minutes) to get everything back, only to have the problem repeat, endlessly. When I go out to the AOL origin source, there is no evidence that files I tried to delete are in the trash. Though e-mails I managed to read do show up in the "old mail" file on AOL. I am not the only with this problem. I found this from another frustrated user: ("After a recent automatic Outlook for Mac 365 update to version 16.73 on/about 5/16/23, any deletion of one or more inbox emails on my att/yahoo "pacbell.net" IMAP account will, on the next auto sync, delete all emails in the inbox. If I then manually do another "send/receive" outlook sync, all the missing pacbell.net inbox messages will soon reappear and also be re-downloaded. Occasionally, that initial auto sync of pacbell.net IMAP will not delete all the inbox messages. But that has become the "exception rather than the rule." Other email IMAPs in my Outlook for Mac (gmail and Comcast) do not have this problem. In addition, there is no similar problem with the same Pacbell.net IMAP in Mac Mail on my Mac nor in the Apple Mail app on my iPhone nor in the Yahoo Mail app and Outlook app on my iPhone. It only happens in the communication between Pacbell.net and Outlook for Mac version 16.73. FWIW, yesterday there was an auto-update to version 16.73.1 which appeared to stop the problem. but, it returned today. (when it happens, the inbox email list is replaced by a pic of a hot air balloon and the message "All done for the day! Enjoy your empty inbox"). I've connected with an Outlook 365 tech support guy who informed me that, the day before my call, he got a similar call with the same problem. He suggested deleting/re-adding the Pacbell.net IMAP in Outlook. I did that but it did not fix the problem. I'm no expert but, since this is not happening to the other IMAPs (Gmail, Comcast) on my Outlook for Mac nor to Pacbell.net on my Mac's Mac Mail or on any of my iPhone mail apps (iOS Mail, Yahoo [ATT Mail], Outlook) nor on the ATT/Yahoo. web server on the Internet, I can only conclude that there is a glitch in the communications between Outlook for Mac (16.73 and 16.73.1) and the ATT/Yahoo IMAP servers (either imap.mail.yahoo.com or imap.mail.att.net). This was not a problem before the recent update to 16.73 and 16.73.1 within a few days.") This is a REAL problem and Outlook 16.73 is the culprit. Now at the top of my Outlook Inbox is a flagged warning message that tells me "Outlook for the Mac Is Here." The next time I launch Outlook, 'the new version will start,' whether `i want it to do so or not. I want the Classic version and look. I don't want the new version. How does one go about getting someone from Microsoft, who created this disaster to fix it? |
