Can iPhone calendars be sync;d with Outlook 2016/2019?

I use Outlook 2016 and 2019 on my desktop and laptop computers and rely on the calendars heavily. Each computer has a unique email address. The problem I have is when I am out and need to schedule something, I can't until I get home. I'd like to synchronize an iPhone calendar with the calendar on one of my home computers. I thought I could do it by installing Outlook for iOS on the phone. That worked for mail but I can't see a way to do it with calendars. When I click on the calendars tab in Outlook on the iPhone, I get a messages that there are no calendars connected to the account. If I try to add the account, it tells me it is a duplicate. Is the calendar function in Outlook for iOS only valid with Outlook.com or should it work with Outlook 2016 and 2019?
