how to disable Alt+s shortcut in Outlook 365 on Win 11
I need to disable Alt+s shortcut in Outlook 365. This short cut sends the message. However Right Alt + s it is also used to insert 'ś', diacritic character in Polish. Since I often write messages in Polish I need to include all Polish diacritics. If Polish language is selected when composing a message, Alt+s is disabled, and everything is just fine.
The problem is that I often forget to switch from English to Polish, and then the first time I try to insert an ś my unfinished message is already gone. I try to edit registry adding new keys to \HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft making it HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Offi ce\16\Outlook\DisabledShortcutKeysCheckBoxes with (Default) REG_SZ (value not set) Alt+S REG_SZ 83, 16 to no avail. Should I remove the first line in there? Or any help I can get PLEASE! thank you, JanAdam |

I don't know whether the shortcut can be disabled, as it is "baked into" the user interface. "S" is the built-in accelerator for the "Send" button.
Try this: use third-party macro software, such as AutoHotkey, to create a window-specific, or perhaps a global, script triggered by Alt + S, to insert ś. I find AutoHotkey usually intercepts keystrokes before applications. But there's no guarantee that Outlook won't occasionally "see" it first. |
