Outlook 2019 error

-A couple of days ago, Excel died (ie it failed to open any xls or tabs correctly). Repair didn't fix, so I uninstalled and reinstalled Office 2019.
-Excel then worked fine, but then Outlook didn't work properly.
-Outlook loaded ok, and I changed 3 settings as normal ie
File / Account-Settings / Server / Incoming / tick only “This server requires an encrypted connection”
" " " Outgoing / Encryption=STARTTLS... and tick "My Outgoing", "Use same..."
-When I clicked Next, it came up with an error:
"Something went wrong and Outlook couldn't save your account settings. Please try again."
-How do I stop this new error in Outlook 2019?
-Does Outlook 2019 no longer accept POP3 with encryption?


-When I tried IMAP instead of POP3, I get same error message

BTW... I tried Office Repair and SCANPST. Still the same problem.

Outlook 2019 does still accept POP mail, provided your service provider also does. The POP settings I use with my service provider are as follows. Repair your account and select the advanced options to repair the account manually, with the following port settings and options.

I repaired account, and that removed the pesky error message, and allowed me to email gmail addresses, but still testing sending yahoo addresses.

I confirm gmail accounts are now receiving emails, but Yahoo accounts are not.
I will try your suggested settings.

I tried your settings but after a ~10 second wait, I got a red error message:
"Something went wrong and Outlook couldn't save your account settings. Please try again."

Oddly enough, despite error message, I can still send/receive emails, just not to Yahoo

I can send an email from my Yahoo address (using Web-site) to my Optusnet address.
However I can't send any emails from my Optusnet address (using MS Outlook 2019) to any Yahoo addresses, whether mine or several friends who all have Yahoo addresses.

I don't have Yahoo account in Outlook, only my Optusnet account, so can't delete it.
I don't know why I would need Yahoo account in Outlook, when I don't have a gmail or other account in Outlook apart from Optusnet.

Update: Something strange is now happening.
For the last hour... I can send emails from my optusnet to my gmail address.... but I can't send any emails from optusnet to my partner's gmail address.

... I mean my partner's gmail address doesn't receive any emails from my optusnet.
No errors, just no email arriving.

I can confirm that from my optusnet account in MS Outlook 2019:
-I can email several gmail users, but not others (no error, but email doesn't reach them)
-I can't email to any Yahoo user (again no error, but emails don't reach them).
I have run "repair" account, scanpst, and repair Office, but none help.
I also tried your Outlook settings, but no luck - either an error message saying something went wrong and to retry... or no error but email doesn't reach them.

Inside MS Outlook 2019, I tried changing from POP to IMAP, and now I get error:
"We couldn't connect to the outgoing (SMTP) server. Please check the outgoing (SMTP) server settings and try again."
I changed them as per OptusNet directions at:
Access your optusnet.com.au email with IMAP - March 2023 - Mailbird

When that didn't work, I deleted my optusnet account from MS Outlook 2019, then went to Control Panel, Mail and restarted setting up account.
However this time I got an error
unknown error 0x80040119
which I googled on and it stated:
"The most likely issue that will trigger the outlook unknown error 0x80040119 is an inconsistent Outlook (. PST) file. If this file is corrupted, you might not be able to use the server to send and receive e-mails."
However, I again tried scanpst, it said errors, I then repaired... but I then ran scanpst a second time, and it still there were errors. So scanpst doesn't repair errors despite saying it does. In other words, scanpst has a bug in it, saying there aren't errors when there are errors.
Can you suggest a more powerful PST repairer?

I googled and tried Wondershare Repairit for Email, but it also had an error running.

However I don't know if this repair will do enough to remove error messages, and ultimately allow me to send optusnet emails from Outlook to gmail or yahoo.
