Problem restoring contacts/calendar

I recently restored my contacts & calendar info, but the calendar items don't appear under the activities tab of the associated contact, as they did before.

If I open an event on the calendar, it lists the contact at the lower left, but when I click on it, it says "cannot perform the requested operation. The command selected is not valid for this recipient."

It seems that somehow the calendar and contacts folders are not communicating properly.

Can anyone help?
