Question Spell checking

This question relates to my new work computer, which is Windows 10, onto which I installed Outlook 2010. At home, I have Windows 7 and Outlook 2010, and this issue does not exist there.

The problem is this: I cannot get spell checking turned on. I did some looking around and found that I am supposed to Click the Spelling and Autocorrect button in the Compose messages section and check some boxes. However, as you can see in the image, the boxes I need to check are grayed out.

What is going on, and more importantly, how to I fix this?
