Greetings smart people.
I have a weird thing happening with my new installation of Outlook 2010. My computer crashed last month, and I just restored all of my files and data to my new laptop. I also installed Outlook 2010. I sync it to my company Exchange Server. I also have accumulated a small collection of Notes that I reference from time to time. I noticed that there was no "Notes" folder visible in the folder list ... so I tried to make one. I got a message that "A folder with this name already exists." ... so I made one called "Notes1." If I click on the "Notes (Ctrl+5)" icon on the bottom of the Navigation Pane, I can see the new "Notes1" folder, plain as day, but no "Notes" folder. Besides the fact that I cannot see the "Notes" folder anywhere on the Navigation Pane, there are other two weird things going on: 1) I have a cool little iPhone App called iMNotes that syncs notes between Outlook and my iPhone. Works over the air via the exchange server, very cool. I created a few notes ... they showed as "synced" ... but they don't show up in my Notes1 folder. 2) I discovered that if I right-click on the "Notes (Ctrl+5)" icon and select "Open in new window" ... TaDa!! ... the actual "Notes" folder opens up, along with the newly-synced notes I created on my iPhone. So, the usual "Notes" folder is there ... it syncs with Exchange Server ... but it is completely stealth until I "Open in new window." As an aside, if I select a note and select "Move" on the menu bar, both the Notes and Notes1 folder show up as options. Long story short ... where the heck is my Notes folder, and why can't I see/use it in the normal Outlook 2010 window? Thanks for taking the time to read this. And thanks in advance for the suggestions.Greetings smart people. I have a weird thing happening with my new installation of Outlook 2010. Can you see other non-mail folders, like Calendar and Tasks?

Yes, I can see all the other folders.
click on Notes icon ... it opens a folder (Notes1) that is visible on the folder list. right click on same icon, and select "open in new window" ... it opens a different folder (notes) that is NOT visible on the folder list. This is also the folder that the Exchange Server syncs with for some reason. I'm baffled. |

I thought that I was crazy as I have worked extensively with Outlook and Exchange. I have the identical issue, although one slight variance, I found my imported notes in my IMAP email folder list. I can open the folder, and all the old notes are right there, although they are in an email format, vs the note looking format.
When I click on the quick launch note - the folder is empty! If I right click on Notes in my email folder list and select properties - on the general tab at the bottom, it says "when posting to this folder, use IPM.Post", it also gives 'Forms' as a selection from the drop down. But when I launch my Notes from the quick launch and right click - that same general tab displays "when posting to this folder, use IPM.StickyNote"! My notes are my 'cheat sheets' and I use them all day, every day. I sync them with both my iTouch and Android which is extremely useful, especially when I don't have an internet connection to get my mail. However now, I am unable to sync them as there is nothing to sync. I have been at this for several days now and would appreciate any suggestions you can offer. |

I found that all notes can be visible with-in the master list, (where you click on inbox in the left hand column where all your folders are at), when you go to the bottom of the master pane, where there is the horizontal row of extra items (journal calendar, tasks, NOTES, etc.) - I believe all that is called the "Navigation Pane." At any rate, click on the one that says "Folder List" and go back up to your master outlook pane on the left, you will see all your notes you've ever created. Not sure if this helps you all out, but I had the darndest time trying to figure out how to see my notes along with my inbox/other mail folders I've created. I figured I'd just throw this is in since it was in reference to the general "Notes" topic.
