Outlook Folder pane won't stay resized
I know this has been discussed somewhere but I'm not finding it...
Outlook 2019, Windows 10 Pro. Dell 3818. I open Outlook and it gets VERY wide, not full screen, but WIDE. So, I grab the right edge and drag it over, then MOVE the window down to the corner where I want it to sit. Hit the "X" to close it, then restart. It doesn't open where I left it. Went out and read a bunch of stuff about resizing, and got lots of advice I can't figure out how to do - maybe 'cause it was from Outlook 2013 and 2016, BUT I did find 1 that said to hold Ctrl while I hit the "X". That didn't do anything either. Periodically, and I have no idea WHAT causes it, it stops being the size I want and got real wide again. And it NEVER stays in the lower left corner where I want it. HOW do I force Outlook to STAY the size and position I put it in, all the time, now and forever? |

Resize/position your Outlook window, then click the File tab, then Exit.
Reopen Outlook to see if the window returns back to its last size/position and if it remembers it in future. |

Thanks. That worked for getting the folders panel to stay where I left it!
Now I'll have to wait and see if it does that bizarre thing where it's small and in the lower left corner, then SOMETHING happens - mail comes in, or something I'm not aware of, and suddenly the folder window stretches 3/4 of the way across the screen, right in the middle. BUT, the good news is, after one of the recent Windows 10 updates, I can get at calendar appointments again... For a while I had to run Outlook in safe mode to see them. thanks for the help! |

Well, I was wrong... It sort-of works mostly.
I drag it to the corner and resize it the way I want, then go into file and exit. If I restart Outlook immediately it's where I left it and the same size. But at SOME point, and I haven't figured out what Outlook is going, it changes size and starts moving. It doesn't go FAR, bit definitely moves and it appears to change size. I've tried doing a pop-out to see if that does it. Switched from email to calendar. I don't know what does it, but at some point it'll start moving up on the screen - an inch or so, and over to the right an inch or two. And some other time it'll move up and/or over a little more. I don't usually notice it until it goes far enough that it's over other windows and I realize it's moved, at which time I drag it BACK to the corner, narrow it to where I want it, and exit again. BUT, it's still better than the giant, weird, wide window splashed across the middle of the screen. So, I figure it's just another one of those incredibly annoying, little Office things and fix it every couple days. |
