Muffin is on a distinguished road
Default A very complicated--perhaps impossible-problem

I've purchased a new desk computer and I'm upgrading my MS office to Office 2019. Everything is in hand for data transfer, except I think I have a unique problem with transferring my numerous and very important emails (Outlook 2007). Here's the story. Years ago I purchased a German email backup system called "Outlook Backup Assistant" and I used it to back up my emails on a separate hard drive. It worked then when retrieving emails. It doesn't work now. Most of my emails have that software's colored logo and the files are called backup .pst. I wouldn't worry about it if my new outlook 2019 could get past the defunct emails and import everything simply as .pst files. By the way, the "help" section of the bad software can't be reached. Even the firm that took over the email backup system has disappeared. My outlook 2007 on my old computer works fine and I intend to keep it until I'm sure I can transfer my emails safely. Hey, it's not just the backup emails. The ones on the C drive also have the "Outlook Backup Assistant" logo and the "backup .pst" files. I've tried to solve the problem without actually trying to transfer the emails (my new computer isn't set up yet) but I'm really incapable of sorting this mess out. At the moment I'm trying to take notes from the most important of my emails (I'm an elderly writer. [84]) I also tried a backup without using the defunct and it's there as a .pst file. I'll probably try that when I'm ready. The file is 2 Gigs in size so I suspect it might contain most of the little critters separate from the defunct backup system I hope. Although it's contaminated the outlook email storage site on the C drive (they have the company logos and the backup .pst file name) I'm hoping that since the defunct system is a backup, it shouldn't have contaminated (imprisoned) the outlook messages stored there.
I hate to rely on hope alone when I'm fooling around with my business contacts. Your suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Don.

P.S. The bad software has a restore function. I started it but chickened out and cancelled the process.
