automatically configuring gmail account in 2007 results in POP3 instead of IMAP
hello everyone,
a week ago I had outlook 2010 on my laptop and when I automatically configured my gmail in 2010 it resulted in an IMAP connection. somehow that account or the .pst folder became corrupted and the only solution i could produce was to reinstall office 2010, but when I did I got a "product key not valid" error when trying to register the product. MS said that error can't be fixed so I downgraded to office 2007. now in 2007, I automatically configured outlook (see attached image "automatically configure" - image #1) with gmail again and it resulted in a POP3 setup instead of IMAP (see attached image "pop3 successfully configured" - image #2). why did this happen? I prefer IMAP cuz with pop3 not all of my messages from gmail's "all mail" folder were downloaded to outlook in 2007 when connected (see attached image "total downloaded to inbox" - image #3). in gmail, the total messages in "all mail" is 2,200) and in 2010 when I had an IMAP setup all of those 2,200 messages downloaded just fine. thanks guys!
