Default Emails being stripped of html formatting

I have an access program that sends emails. I am sending an email whose body contains html code, like a typical spam advertisement you might get (but this is not spam). If I send the emails using my pop3 Verizon.net account it works fine. I've even had other people try using their email services; they have no problem. However, if I send the email using my own Exchange 5.5 server then the email is somehow stripped down and the receipient gets it as text instead of html. Here's the kicker... If I send it to myself then it works fine. I think it is might be related to exchange somehow, but I'm not sure. Have you ever run across anything like this before?
