Smile Attach Contact to Tasks----Grrrrrrr! LOL

I have a quick question, as I want to: Attach a specific Contact to a Task so that when completed, I can view that Task as completed in that specific contact's history (Activities).

According to MS Help this is how it is done:

  1. Open the Task
  2. In the Contacts box, type contact names.
Ok, great! Oops, in my MS Outlook 2007, there is no CONTACTS box when I create a new Task.... see image of Task below.

Thanks for your help!

Preston Ehrler

Have you selected Assign task?

When you assign a task you have the ability to add the user to the TO field.
Once you assign the user or users this should show up in the contact history if free/busy information has been configured properly.

I would assume so if you are wanting to track the task in the contact history.

That's where Outlook and Act really start to diverge. In Act you create the Task like "Fix Header on Customer X's Website" and it's automatically assigned to Customer X provided you created the task when working with that contact, then when the task is completed, you can look back in the Contact's history and say, oh, yes Mr. Customer X, we completed that back on the 15th of the month...simple. Why can't MSFT make Outlook work that way?

Default how to turn on contact linking in outlook

I was searching for this also and found out it's very easy to do in Outlook

From Microsoft:
NOTE By default, Contacts linking does not appear on the message, contacts, and tasks windows. To turn on Contact linking, on the Task tab, in the Actions group, click Save & Close. On the main Outlook window, on the Tools menu, click Options. On the Preferences tab, click Contact Options, and then on the Contact Options dialog box under Contact Linking, select the Show Contact Linking on all Forms check box. Open your task to continue with this procedure.

Then you do this:
If your task involves a person or organization in your Contacts, you can create a quick link to the contact, by clicking Contacts at the bottom of the window, and then selecting an entry. Click OK to close the Select Contacts dialog box.

All of your tasks will show up in that contact's activities.
