All attachments from my office received as winmail.dat
I sometimes forward email received at my office email to myself at my home email. All attachments, regardless of the file type, are received as winmail.dat. The office email system is Outlook 365 in Exchange. My home email is now Office 365 Personal, but the issue existed with my previous Outlook 2013 installation. I am running Windows 10 (1809) on both computers. The winmail.dat issue has been around a long time with other folks as well, yet I can't find any explanations or solutions. Is there a solution? Any help will be greatly appreciated! |

The way to stop it from doing that is to log in to Exchange 365 Admin Centre \ Mail Flow \ Remote Domains Then there should be a Default *. If not then create one and change the "Use rich-text format" settings to Never as shown below: |

Thanks
Thanks, Adrian. I appreciate the follow-up and solution.
I have since determined that if I send the email from my office account to my gmail account there is no issue with the attachments. I have my gmail account set up to automatically forward all incoming messages to my charter.net email and the attachments come through just fine from gmail. Now to figure out how to mark my post as solved. Best Regards, Alan |
