Default How to import UNIX Mbox to Outlook 2013

I am installing Outlook 2013 for my wife, and need to export emails from here current email client (Becky), and it can only export to eml and UNIX Mbox. SO, I guess Mbox is the way to go.

However, I am not sure how to do the import.

My wife has a 4 mailboxes = 4 email addresses) with a number of 'personal' folders under each. I assume Outlook can accommodate different mailboxes too, with 'personal' folders under each. Do I have to create this mailbox/folder tree in Outlook before importing Mbox files? And how do I make sure each mbox file goes into the correct mailbox/folder?

Thanks you for tips and/or references to documentation.

I’m afraid I know nothing about ‘Becky’ and ways/methods to export from within it, but if you can export the messages as .eml files to a folder, you should be able to drag the msgs from that folder either singularly or in bulk to an Outlook account Inbox of your choice.
They are then viewed like any other msg in an Inbox or other folder.
Alternatively, the saved/exported .eml files in the folder should automatically open when d/clicked in Outlook if Outlook is set as the default email client. This, perhaps, is a preferable way to avoid ‘clogging’ up Outlook with msgs that are no longer of great importance but can still be accessed via the folder that contains them should they want to do so.

Thank you, Moonshine. Your second suggestions is probably my solution, and I can then drag a few or the most current emails into Outlook itself.

I did not expect you to know anything about Becky, as it is a rather obscure email client developed and maintained by a Japanese guy. It is, however, a wonderful email client for POP, perhaps not so great for IMAP. It can export emails to eml or UNIX mbox. Address book sync to other address books is not great. Filters are very good, and you can have tens of thousands of emails in the database without slowdown, and with superfast searches.

Regards,

Hans L
