Outlook 2013 email addresses not syncing
I hope I put the Subject matter something close to what I'm experiencing. I notice once in a bit when receiving / sending email, it will say something like "syncing folders" but it hangs every single time and I have to cancel it out.
Then I notice mail will not come into my gmail account. If I click on the 'Inbox' it shows it to be syncing then the email will load. But I can check for mail again in say, ten minutes, and the same problem exist. I will not get email until I click on the Inbox in the gmail account. Is there a way for me to overcome this grief? |

Surely I have not stumped everyone with my query. Is there no one on this forum who can jump in and come to my aid?

Since I cannot find anywhere to reply to your private message to me, I have no choice but to post it here!
You said the following, "This is a duplicate of: ttp://www.msofficeforums.com/outloo...t-syncing.html Kindly don't ask the same question in multiple threads. Thread closed. You may continue the discussion in your other thread. __________________ Cheers, Paul Edstein [MS MVP - Word] (End Quote) ------------------------------------------------------------ Since I am getting nowhere fast and no responses whatsoever, I thought I might have posted my question in the wrong area! Thus my further attempt! |

I assume you're using IMAP?
Has your situation ever worked properly, or is the problem recent? How many email accounts are you working with? Please tell us the other ISPs, apart from Gmail. How large are your accounts? Big accounts could take a long time to sync. What's your internet up/down speed like? Maybe your bandwidth can't handle the syncing. Without further info, I only have 2 suggestions: 1. Try making new account(s) in Outlook for each of your addresses. There may be some corruption in your current accounts. 2. Consider switching from IMAP to POP. |

Thank you for bouncing in on my query! I am using IMAP in several email addresses, one POP and several Microsoft Exchange accounts.
Outlook works perfectly flawless 99.99% of the time. Once in a bit, I'll see when checking mail, it hangs and when I check it, is says 'syncing folders' and I've left it for over an hour one time but it did nothing but hang. I have roughly 6 email addresses. I have one Service Provider. Accounts are small, in fact, several of them I rarely use. Internet download speed is a massive 1.7 mbps and upload is a tremendous 0.6 I found the last time this problem arose, I shut down Outlook and upon opening it again, everything worked 100%. Should I keep a Class C Fire Extinguisher close at hand? |

Hmm, I've never operated with a mix of account types—ie IMAP, POP, Exchange—so I don't have anything knowledgeable for you.
My only guess is your internet speed might be too slow to check all those accounts together, so try checking them one at a time. Another option is to try the Office Repair utility, explained here. |

Thank you for the reply! It very well could be as you say, the Internet speed. You say 'check them one at a time' and my question again is, how. Also, it has been suggested to 'bump' this thread to help getting more responses. Not sure how to do that either but maybe you could point that out if you so wish.

Gmail have changed the security and will no longer work with client email systems unless a suggested change is made - see my post above.
You need to access gamil via the web, access yr account security and turn on "less secure apps". This is the suggested answer from Gmail, but in our case this doesn't work on our Outlook 365 (has to be IMAP for Gmail, plus we have no other email addresses - Windows 10) There are many folks facing this issue and really we need Microsoft to address this issue - currenly we are having to live with web access. |

Yea verily, I have long ago turned on the 'less secure apps' and am using the IMAP for Gmail.
This problem only raises its head once in a great while and last time, shutting down Outlook 2013 fixed the problem. I just find it strange the 'syncing folders' hangs every now and then and not consistently. Thanks for your reply. |

Turning on Less Secure Apps worked for me, and I have and had my Gmail always on POP.

I've read where Gmail recommeded IMAP but I'll take your advice and try the POP (and not Pepsi either). Thanks for the pointer.
