Default Html send as plain text

Using OL 2010, Html formatted messages with stationary/theme for new, signatures for replying.

As a message is edited, all seems fine and even after it is sent, it is shown in de Sent box with the correct layout.

But in fact all messages are sent as plain text, I checked this at the receiving end.

Any idea how to correct this?

Thanks

Hi,

Do your emails go via Exchange Server? It is possible that your mail server forces the format of your emails. Even though you send all messages in HTML (and this is also what they look like in sent items) they might be changed on their way to plain text.

Hi Ray,

Thanks for your reply.
No exchange server, OL sends its emails to the smtp-server of the ISP.
Further more this occured after upgrading from OL 2003 (first uninstalled) to OL 2010.
2 other PC's running OL 2007 don't have this problem.

We have run into the exact same problem. Html formatted messages sent from OL 2010 get converted to plain text on the receiving end. The "same" html formatted messages from OL 2007 get received correctly, as html messages.

Hi,

My specific problem was the combination of OL 2010 and Softalk Share Server running on the same PC. But probably this also occurs if OL 2010 is just using SSS as a mailserver.

It was solved by downgrading to OL 2007.

If you have the same situation, OL 2010-SSS on the same PC, you will also run into more problems, like OL stalling and a massive amount of temp files in the SSS database.

SSS just isn't (yet?) compatible with OL 2010, but problems are also reported with other (even Exchange) servers.

You just have to abandon OL 2010 asap and use an earlier version instead.

Jos
