Default Lost email after upgrade

I had office 2007 installed and just upgraded to 2019 pro. Had emails saved in 2007 however they don't show up in 2019. Is there any way I can recover these emails or am I SOOL? Thanks in advance.

Using POP. Now that I think of it, they still should be on the server, however, if it was it would download the emails just like any other email. Duh. Sometimes I need something to jar the memory, just getting old I guess.

Funny thing. I just checked the server and all the emails are gone. I never deleted them basically there were items I needed for reference until specific actions were completed. Now having 2007 on the computer, is it possible to recover or at least see if those emails are still in the pst file? I'm guessing 2007 used pst. Or because their gone from the server, they are just gone and can't get them back.

POP emails lose their synchronisation with the server, the sooner they are received by Outlook. They are removed from the server Mailbox, and it has to do nothing with their availability in the Outlook 2007.
If they are in OST format, convert them to PST first. The PST files can be imported to Outlook 2019.

So 2007 is not in pst format? That's interesting. If 2007 is removed, is the OST files removed as well? Removal is done thru Control Panel. IF the OST files are still on the drive, where would you look? You know Win 10 hides stuff and how would you convert, Import through 2019? I'll do some research on that one myself.

My 2007 files are in PST format.?

You will need to show hidden folders and then navigate to something like

C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook for your pst files if they still exist?

Appdata is hidden by default.

Unfortunately, been there, no file or folder for 2007 exists. Once you uninstall the program, it's gone.

But I thank you for your help anyway. I learned something, always make a backup of your pst files. Just more junk to contend with, but that's the price you pay to ensure you don't lose anything.

Is there any file with the name of your email account, supported by an OST or PST extension?
"C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook " is the exact location.
As far as I know removal of Outlook also deletes the existing Outlook folders. Probably, you are another sufferer.
As per me, one should backup his emails, no matter they are accessed by IMAP server or POP. Here is my reason to own one such application- Mail Backup X. Apart from alerting the presence of attachments in my emails, it makes sure all my emails are backed up:https://www.msofficeforums.com/outlo...s-outlook.html.
Make sure you get one such tool too.

I could be wrong, but with IMAP mails stay on the server, don't they ? Why would one want to backup them?

I went to the server and they are not there. I too thought that the emails would be there but..... So that's that. Spectrum has webmail and you can get right on their server using your email address and password that would be associated with your regular email client. Some email I keep if associated with a purchase, these emails were associated with getting my other computer fixed and with the manufacturer with the case number. With them gone I might be up a creek without a paddle. I do have an old case number written down, hopefully, they'll be able to trace it to the new case number. We'll see.
I've definitely learned a lesson. Granted, you don't normally back up your email but it wouldn't hurt to do just that, in fact, it may be a good practice to back up all folders as your contacts are there as well, just in case something happens. You never know anymore.

That is strange, as I have removed 2007 in the past and reinstalled and the pst files were not touched. I did back them up just in case though.

FWIW, your client is probably set to delete emails off the server when retrieved.

I *think* I use this for my backups. Been a good while since I installed it.

I tell a lie, it was this Microsofts own one

After reading, both links you provided won't work on 2019, so the only way of backing up is manual. You have to remember that you're dealing with a totally different version of Windows, there are things in here we don't even know about until you read about it. I don't mind a manual backup, keeps me on my toes. I would guess eventually they will come up with something, they always do. In the meantime, just have to keep chugging along.

In your case, the emails were accessed via POP server. It is primarily meant for emptying the mailbox, the sooner they are received by Outlook.

Yes, they do. I had started just because I wasn't getting complete emails at my Outlook. The way this tool is storing my emails despite deleting them from the server and the Outlook too; I guess, I can save a lot of space in later years by removing them from the server and still having a copy of them.

@XPAC
Please do not quote entire posts unnecessarily. Quotes just clutter the thread and make it hard to read. Thank you
